We embraced the unknown and trusted in God to lead us. Opening our home and our hearts, we fostered children hoping to make a difference. Little did we know just how much this would change our lives.

For my wife, Christina, and I, it has always been our dream to have a big family. While still living in North Carolina, I was flying fighter jets in the Marine Corps. After trying for some time, we were ready to begin IVF treatments. Just a week before that began, we found out she was pregnant – it was a miracle! As a result, I left the Marine Corps and began flying for American Airlines. We moved to Phoenix in 2017 with a goal to continue growing our family.

It was through our church that we first began to consider becoming foster parents. Once we moved to Phoenix, we jumped in, attaining our foster license. With the infertility issues we had experienced, we saw it as an opportunity to help children in need and give back in some way.

Over the course of 2 years, we welcomed 12 incredible children into our home, each leaving a mark on our family. Whether we had these kids for a few days or a few months, we poured our energy into providing them with the best experience possible to help them feel cared for and supported. They taught us gratitude and boundless compassion. Our daughter, Emma, loved every moment and embraced her role in helping each child feel at home.

Fostering can be incredibly rewarding, yet bittersweet. That is all a part of the journey. Each child changed our family and taught us something. We cherish the experiences we had with them; every story and every unique personality changed our lives in one way or another.

Out of the 12 children we fostered, we were blessed to adopt two: Evan and TJ. Evan is 5 years old, and TJ is 3 – each of our children has brought immense joy to our life. We took a break from fostering to help find our “new normal.” Just when we were ready to return to it, we found out Christina was pregnant again – we were elated!

Truly, each of our children is a gift. Our baby girl, Maddie Joy, will be turning 2 soon. Since then, we have stopped fostering but continue to help other foster parents navigate the process. Our dreams of having a big family have come true, and we couldn’t be happier.

While growing our family, I embarked on another path – I became a licensed real estate agent in 2019 while still working as an airline pilot. Initially, it was meant to be a side hustle, helping friends and family buy and sell homes. My business has completely taken off, and I couldn't be happier.

I am a firm believer in putting people first. Commission and financial gains are byproducts of taking care of others, not the primary focus. It is my intention to always make a positive impact on the lives of others. My ultimate goal is to genuinely care for and help people.

Prioritizing my clients and being present for my loved ones is my driving force. None of this would be possible without my wife. Having three kids that are 5 and under, she serves as our family’s rock. She gives me stability, allowing me to passionately pursue my career while also helping me maintain balance.

If I am not working or with my family, I try to be involved in the community, leading Sunday school for second graders, serving as the Chairman for the Veteran Affairs Committee and working with our country club to choose the charity we sponsor each year. This is a beautiful life, and I am thankful every day for the many blessings we have in our lives.

With a people-first mentality, I have always been focused on providing exceptional care and support to my clients. I believe in going above and beyond to ensure that your needs are met and that you have the most positive experience possible. Whether it's helping you find your dream home or guiding you through the selling process, my goal is to alleviate any burdens and make a lasting impact on your life.

Working in real estate has given me the opportunity to connect with people on a deeper level. I find great joy in meeting new individuals, understanding their unique situations, and being there for them every step of the way. Additionally, I take pride in helping people within my sphere, including fellow foster parents, veterans, active duty military personnel, first responders, and airline employees. My focus is not just on the transaction itself but also on the emotional and mental well-being of my clients. Your satisfaction and happiness are my ultimate goals. When the transaction is over, I will continue offering my professional knowledge, support and resources as your REALTOR® and friend for life.

Sincerely,

Steve Zalewski
